I noticed some games have the character graphics for each direction (up, up-right, right, down-right, etc), but in HLD the running animation only has only Up/Down/Left/Right and in Crawl it only has Left/Right. I am thinking of trying to make a hack n slash game like a Hyper Light Drifter or Crawl and I am looking at the way the characters are animated.
